Administrative Assistant

Position Type: Part-time 

Reports to: Rector/Lead Pastor

Salary: $20/hour

This role is focused on connecting people both existing and new to the church by welcoming them, introducing them to Life Groups, or connecting them into a serving team. Also, this role is key in making sure that events are planned with room reservations, calendar events, and that those events are executed well with the highest level of quality, i.e. room layout, food, drinks and resources.

This position reports to the Rector and is 20 hours a week, in-person at our Sullivan's Island campus. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications: Help manage and facilitate churchwide communications including weekly newsletter, emails, texts, website and printed materials such as Sunday bulletins, special events, mailers, and promotional items. Will also assist in the development of signage, banners and other communications needs as identified. 

Social Media: Curate Holy Cross social media presence including our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter/X accounts. Work with team to capture photos and coordinate with church schedule for promotional efforts.   

Pastoral Care: Manage Pastoral Care in the Rock module to ensure care items are entered, approved and assigned to clergy. Make sure that people are cared for and properly closed out or followed up with.

Administration: Answer phone, greet visitors at doors as well as deliveries, keep up staff calendar, tasks for clergy, answer info emails, communion, birthday and other staff celebrations. Maintain entries in books for funerals, weddings, baptisms and confirmations; also, add into Rock profile. Gather names for confirmation from Student Ministers and send names to the Diocese. Also, record confirmation date in Rock profile.

Event Coordination: Assist with special events such as weddings, funerals, outreach efforts, and various other events in the life of Holy Cross. This includes service as a church wedding and funeral coordinator.

Associate Rector 

Position: Full-time with benefits

General Description: Opportunity to join an amazing ministry team! We are excited to reach our fast-growing community with the Gospel and equip maturing disciple-making disciples of Jesus. The Associate Rector will provide pastoral leadership for our 1) family ministry including children’s, student and HIS School preschool ministry, 2) Life Groups and men/women’s ministry; and 3) missions and evangelism ministry. In addition, the Associate will assist the Rector with strategic planning for the church, leadership in the Sunday service, periodic preaching and teaching, and other pastoral needs and responsibilities as identified by the Rector.

Qualifications:

Growing relationship with the Lord; demonstrates spiritual healthy and maturity, Christ-like character and leadership (including in marriage and family, if relevant) (Matthew 5-7; John 15; Romans 8; Galatians 5:13-26; Leviticus 20:7; 1 Timothy 5:24-25)

Theological education (MDiv or comparable preferred) that includes clear understanding of the Gospel and the Scriptures (Colossians 1:28, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

3-5 years of ordained ministry experience (in Anglican context preferred but not required)

Demonstrates an ability to disciple others in the way of Jesus (Matthew 4:19; 28:16-20; 1 Corinthians 11:1, 1 Thessalonians 2:8, 2 Timothy 2:2)

Possesses a heart for the lost, others to know Christ (Matthew 18:12-14, John 3:16-18, Acts 1:8)

Able to commit whole-heartedly to the vision, values, and beliefs of Holy Cross

Ability to work well in a team environment (1 Corinthians 12:12-27)

Effective communicator of the Gospel in various context (preaching, teaching, small groups, cross-generationally, individually) (1 Corinthians 9:19-23; 2 Timothy 2:24, 4:2-5)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organize and oversee all programming and discipleship for children (birth-4th grade) and youth (5th-12th grade), including Sunday mornings (8:30 am-1 pm) and special events.
  • Provide pastoral care and support for HIS School Preschool students and work to build relationships with school families.
  • Help build and oversee a Gospel-centered children’s and youth team by recruiting, training, scheduling, encouraging and casting vision of holistic approach discipleship
  • Pastoral oversight and development of the children’s ministry and youth ministry directors; help identify and recruit Full-Time Children’s Ministry Director and Part-Time Youth Ministry Director
  • Serve as primary advocate/vision caster for LifeGroups, Men’s and Women’s ministry
  • Recruit, train, provide curriculum and support for group leaders and men’s/women’s ministry teams
  • Work with Lead Pastor to develop strategic ministry plans
  • Help develop a comprehensive approach to evangelism and local/global missions partnerships
  • Assist in the development of systems/processes that enable Holy Cross to grow and flourish (e.g., membership, leadership development)
  • Assist in the leadership of Sunday morning service, including preaching, celebrating, leading the liturgy, etc.

Children’s Ministry Director

Position Type: Full-time with benefits

Salary Range: 50-60k + benefits

Reports to: Rector/Lead Pastor


Responsibilities: This is an exciting opportunity to help lead and cast vision for a Gospel-centered, biblically based approach to the discipleship of our children, infants to 5th grade. Specifically, this person would be responsible for:

Administration:

  • Coordinating Sunday mornings and special events
  • Manage children’s ministry team volunteers by recruiting, training, scheduling, and leading them.
  • Partner with and support parents in family discipleship efforts 
  • Communicate with families through email, text messaging, and social media.
  • Maintain safety and security protocols for children’s and youth ministry.
  • Assist with budgeting and scheduling.
  • Attend Tuesday morning staff meetings and meet with the Rector for an hour each week.
  • Special Events
  • Organize and oversee church-wide special events for children, including Vacation Bible School and holiday events.
  • Relational
  • Becoming a member of Holy Cross
  • Develop relationships with children and youth families in the church.
  • Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and youth.

Church Organist/Pianist

Position Type: Part-time

Reports to: Worship Director

Full-Time: 5-10 hours per week


The main focus of this job is to serve as a church organist and choir accompanist for the Sunday morning service.  

Responsibilities

Weekly:

  • Read and know the details of the monthly and weekly service plans.
  • Select and play an organ prelude, hymns, offertory, and postlude for the Sunday services. Communicate selection titles to the worship director via email by 8:00 AM Thursday mornings.
  • Prepare and play assigned church hymns on organ during services. The director of worship will select and communicate hymns in advance.
  • Accompany the choir on piano during Wednesday night rehearsals. Choral anthems will be selected by the Director of Worship and communicated in advance.
  • Assist in warming the choir up before Sunday services by reporting to choir room or Sanctuary on Sunday morning with all of needed materials for the day.
  • Having all musical material prepared in advance of each rehearsal/performance.
  • Practice Time: The accompanist should have spent the time needed to practice all music to a high level of accuracy. (hymns, service music, anthems accompaniments and open score)

Occasionally:      

  • Accompany and rehearse with soloists. Some soloists will need a little help reading/learning the music.
  • Prepare and play additional services throughout the year.
  • Christmas Eve – 3 services are typically planned.. The organist plays for the 7:00 and 11:00 PM services.
  • Easter – extra musical performances on Palm Sunday and Easter. Easter morning has 3 services that Sunday morning. 
  • There are also additional services that take place each year. Examples possibly include Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and more. Additional services change from year to year, flexibility is needed with these.
  • At Organist’s discretion, play for Weddings. Weddings do earn an additional fee.
  • Funerals occasionally have the need of the organist. 

Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree or higher in music is given preference.
  • Excellent piano playing skills as demonstrated for hiring audition.
  • Organ performance skills are preferred, but not required.
  • 5 years working in church music settings.
  • Christian faith. 

Skills:

This position requires approximately 10-15 hours a week. Time involvement varies greatly throughout the year and is largely dependent on how quickly you learn to play piano music. Independent playing practice is huge portion of this position.

Lead Guitarist

Position Type: Part-time

Reports to: Worship Director

Full-Time: 5-10 hours per week


Responsibilities: Lead guitarist is responsible for working with the Worship Director to lead the praise team and choir in worship on Sunday mornings. This position calls for a creative and collaborative approach to our common worship which is committed to glorifying Christ through music and songs that represent an appreciation for the beauty and diversity of modern and ancient worship. 

The Lead Guitarist is expected to: 

  • Regularly pray for the church, it’s mission and it’s leadership
  • Be committed to supporting a worship ministry that flows from and furthers the broader mission and vision of Holy Cross
  • Support the leadership of the Worship Director
  • Assist the Worship Director in the selection and leading of songs that are faithful to the Gospel, orthodox and in keeping with the theological convictions of Holy Cross
  • Attend weekly praise team rehearsals (Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings)

Youth Ministry Director 

Position: Part-time (20 hours/week)

Salary Range: $25/hr

Reports to: Rector/Lead Pastor

  • Help create outreach events and service opportunities for students
  • Help recruit and equip youth team leaders 
  • Participate in weekly worship and is an active member of a local church.
